Letter from Ms. Mary (11/11)

Hey Philharmonia East!

Nice work last night! And how nice to have Maestro, once again, check in how we are working on staying steady in all of our pieces!

Maestro Smith

Fall Festival is this weekend.  There are lots of details, but the most important thing to remember is: I will not rush.  Rushing is sad.  We talked about and worked on the importance of listening AND watching.  This will be especially true at Orchestra Hall, where the acoustics are very different from our rehearsal space.

Things to remember for this weekend:

  • Our concert is this Sunday.  Our call time (the time you are to be there) is 12:30.
  • Please enter at the Stage Door.
  • Make sure you know where you will meet your family after the concert.
  • We are playing Turbulence and Sword Dance.
  • Concert Dress is ALL BLACK.
  • Remember to bring your instrument and music.
  • You have made so, so much progress these past 10 weeks.

Play our concert pieces at least three times before Sunday.  Play them for someone at home.  Count your rests.  Keep counting the beat and staying steady.

I can’t wait to see and hear you on Sunday.  It’s going to be an awesome Fall Festival.

Have a great week. Work hard, play hard.
