Letter from Ms. Mary (11/10)
Hey Philharmonia West!
It’s Fall Festival Week! These past 10 weeks have led up to our upcoming Fall Festival performance at Orchestra Hall, which is this Saturday. Thank you for your continued hard work and effort, at our Monday night rehearsals and your individual practice at home. And congratulations for 100% attendance this week. Way to go!
Here are the Top 5 concert reminders:
- Your call time on Saturday is 1:25. This is the time you are to be at Orchestra Hall.
- Please enter at the Peavey Plaza Entrance.
- Make sure you know where you are going to meet your family after the concert.
- Concert dress is ALL BLACK.
- Steady is cool. Rushing is not.
We are playing Ukrainian Folk Songs and Tyro Tango. You have made so much progress. I am excited that we get to share what we have learned with friends at Orchestra Hall. Can you think of some new instrument skills you have learned since our first rehearsal? Maybe you have improved on a bow stroke or scales. Send me your answers! My email is mary@gtcys.org.
Before our concert, I would like you to play our concert pieces three times. Remember to count the rests! Play them for an audience, at least once. Playing them just a few more times at home for an audience will make a difference at our concert.
At our rehearsal next week, we will begin to focus on the music we are playing for the December 8th concert. More about that next Monday.
Have a great week. Work hard, play hard. See you at Orchestra Hall!
