Letter from Ms. Mary (10/28)
Hey Philharmonia East!
Thank you for your hard work this week. We focused on keeping a steady beat. This is really hard to do! Everyone needs to be counting, listening and thinking about a steady pulse. “I will not rush. Rushing is sad.” Say this as often as possible!
It was so nice to have a special treat night this week. Thank you to the parents for helping to organize our amazing snack time. And a shout out to our mentors for adding so much to our weekly rehearsals! We appreciate what you bring each week to Philharmonia East.
Spiccato…We are working on this, as it is in both of our Fall Festival pieces. We spent a lot of time this week on the spiccato section in Turbulence. I would ask that you continue to work on this at home this week. More specifically, measures 18-25. Are you staying steady or is your tempo rushing? “I will not rush. Rushing is sad.” What would happen if we all rushed just a little bit? “I will not rush. Rushing is sad.”
Next week, we will continue to work on our Fall Festival pieces, as well as review Chins and Pins and Accents.
Question of the week: What do you enjoy most about your instrument? Email your responses to mary@gtcys.org.
Have a great week. Work hard, play hard.
