Letter from Ms. Mary (1/27)

Hey Philharmonia East,

So nice to see and hear you at rehearsal this week. Thank you for your continued hard work, especially in these cold winter days.

Last night we focused on some very specific passages in Draw the Circle Wide and Jubilee Fanfare.  These are two of our pieces that will be on our February 28th concert.  The other pieces that we will be playing are Hop, Skip and Jump, and Merengue del Primer Dedo.  The passages we focused on this week are the ones I would like you to take a look at this week at home:

  • Jubilee Fanfare, measures 21-41
  • Draw the Circle, measures 36-44

We have 4 more rehearsals before our next concert.  The ComMusication choir will join us for one of these rehearsals.  For the next two weeks, we will spend most of our time on Hop, Skip and Jump and Jubilee Fanfare.

A reminder that all students need to bring all of their equipment needed to each rehearsal. Please check to see that you have all of your music, your instrument, stand, pencil and any accessories such as rosin and rock stops.

Shout out to the viola section for playing so boldly in Jubilee Fanfare!  What an awesome viola sound!

Question of the week: What is your favorite reading genre? Send those answers to mary@gtcys.org.

Have a good week.  Share your music with someone this week. Work hard, play hard.
