Letter from Ms. Mary (1/12)
Hey Philharmonia West,
Nice job at our rehearsal this week. We covered a lot of ground on several of our pieces. We mainly focused on rhythm and bowing patterns in the Tchaikovsky March. We also worked on Turbulence and the Vivaldi Concerto.
This Saturday is our retreat! We will work on our repertoire as well as have a guest artist. Tulio Rondon is a cellist and gamba player who specializes in the music of the Baroque Era. He will play for us and help us to learn more about how baroque music was performed during the time it was written. There will also be another guest musician at our retreat. Stay tuned!
In addition to rehearsing and having a guest artist, we will have some team building activities and dinner. You should have received a separate email that has all of the information regarding our retreat. Please remember to bring everything you need for a rehearsal, as well as to bring dinner for yourself. Arrive at Roseville Area High School at 1:30. Our retreat begins at 1:45. Come rested, it will be full day!
At our retreat, we will focus on the following pieces:
Tchaikovsky March
Vivaldi Concerto
Brandenburg Concerto
Turbulence
Before Saturday, play through each of these pieces. Focus on measures 18-40 in Turbulence. Make sure to practice counting the rests. Listen to our pieces as much as possible! You can find listening links for this week here:

Come ready and rested for a great day on Saturday. Arrive at 1:30. Our fun and festivities begin at 1:45!
Work hard, play hard.
