Letter from Mrs. Hebert (4/20)

Sinfonia West,

We only have TWO rehearsals to go!!

Capriccio Espagnol is coming along! We brought it up to an 8.5! This week strings and woodwinds need to continue to practice with the metronome. Set it at 110: Quarter note and make sure you can play the 16th notes at that tempo. Think CRISP and LIGHT when you play.

GO West! Needs the most work this week. We are still struggling with a few tempos and all the transitions need more work. I need you to practice EACH transition 3-4x each time you practice. Double-check your tempos! We are trying to match the tempos that are printed in your part.

  1. 40-75 needs a lot of attention and practice with the metronome.

This week- please double-check your dynamics and be very dramatic when you play them. Cellos- we worked on “piano” for many sections and how you even need to play less than you think to balance out the melody.

Your other practice goal this week was to play Jupiter somewhere different- even outside on these beautiful days! If you are struggling to memorize it, play 1 measure at a time and learn that before adding one more measure. Before you know it, you will have it down! I also encourage you to listen to the recording so you can see how your part fits in.

Those that need additional help with auditions or Jupiter can come at 6:00pm next week before rehearsal.

Happy Practicing!

Mrs. Hebert
