Letter from Mrs. Hebert (3/30)
Sinfonia West,
I know a lot of you were gone on Monday and we missed you!
We enjoyed taking part of our rehearsal outside and we did a run-through of our pieces and we have some work ahead of us! This is the question I want you to ask:
If I was asked to play any passage by myself, do I know it well enough that I could play it with confidence?
If the answer is “NO” then you know what to practice for this week!
The average of our ratings were:
- Capriccio- 5.5: you all agreed that we need to work on tempo changes and get them together (that means you need to know your music so well you can always look up!) You also agreed thatstaccatos need to be more “crisp”and that dynamics weren’t that great. Your goal is have this piece in tip-top shape WITH dynamics at 108: quarter note. Our goal is 112, but I want us to be able to lock in at this slightly slower tempo together!
- Go West! 4.5:The main reason why this got a 4.5 was we really need to learn our notes, rhythms, and transitions! Please listen and learn this piece this week. I would encourage you to listen to the recording and play with it!!
We only have 5 rehearsals left!
Happy Practicing
Mrs. Hebert
