Letter from Mrs. Hebert (2/23)

Sinfonia West,

We have our concert THIS Sunday!

I know you are ready for new music, but my request is that you push through this week and fully master your music between now and Sunday.

You can go to JW Pepper and type in the titles of our pieces if the links have not been working for you.

I have also changed the order of the concert since Echoes has become our strongest piece.

  1. Coiled!
  2. James Bond
  3. Echoes

Here are some specifics to work on:

James Bond Theme

– The beginning 2 measures and anytime this rhythm comes back. Play with confidence and know your rhythm! Violins: we switched the note on the first 2 measures to A on the E string (above the staff) to help balance the beginning

  •  DYNAMICS!!!
  • PHRASING!! Any half note sections  with the crescendos and decrescendos

Echoes:

  • Work on Staccatos!!
  • Check with metronome 80: dotted quarter note
  • Melodic line- really work on mastering these sections and PLAY OUT
  • Practice everything that is NOT the melody much softer (we are overpowering the melodic line)
  • WINDS/BRASS: double-check the key signatures!  We are missing quite a few notes

Coiled!

  • Continue to work with your metronome
  • Strings: we have not mastered everyone bouncing together so we will keep it on the string.
  • ACCENTS!!
  • If you have the melody, PLAY OUT!
  • DRILL J to the end: we are struggling staying together! Practice it until you master it.

Happy Practicing!

Mrs. Hebert
