Letter from Mrs. Hebert (10/6)

Sinfonia West,

Thank you to all of you who have been practicing with your metronome this past week. I can tell a lot of you have been working up to our concert tempos!

For those of you who have not been practicing, please put in a lot of time on your GTCYS music. Playing in an orchestra is a team effort- we need EVERY one of you to play your part!

Remember: Your best friend is your METRONOME this week!!

Next week the strings will have sectionals! Please practice your music up to temp this week (see below) so you are ready to dive into more details as a section. Add in your dynamics and work on the phrasing at the beginning of Cumberland Cross.

1st violins: the 16th notes in Dance of The Tumblers should be a priority.

Brass: Getting the melody up to speed in Cumberland Cross should be your priority.

Here are the tempos if you have not yet put them in your music.

  • Cumberland Cross: 60: quarter note at beginning/ 120: quarter note at M. 25
  • Voyager: 123: Quarter notes
  • Dance of the Tumblers: 124: quarter note

Happy Practicing!

Mrs. Hebert
