Letter from Mr. Larson (3/3)

Sinfonia East Students and Families,

It was an exciting week! We had a concert over the weekend…which ended strong. I know it didn’t start the way any of us expected. It took a little while to find the path to recovery, but you did find it and then you were more focused and ended strong. We will talk about Glorioso a little more next week so we can avoid a similar situation in the future.

This week SE hosted an open rehearsal and we had many guests at our rehearsal. We had students join many sections including violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, and trumpet. Many thanks to students who invited their friends to our rehearsal, it was fun to include many new faces into our rehearsal!

We are now going to change focus to Finale, It’s About Time, and Highlights from Harry Potter.

For your GTCYS 10 this week:

  • Finale
    • We added fp to beat 1 of measures 42, 43, 44, 45.
    • Measures 46 – 49
      • Remember the staccatos
    • Review dynamics
  • It’s About Time
    • Review 77 – end
    • We are going to start at measure 45. You can listen to the listening link below, but you should check out this recording of “As Time Goes By.
    • We are going to try to work through 45 – end
  • Highlights from Harry Potter
    • Go beyond notes. Find the articulations, accents, and dynamics that will make this music come alive.
