Letter from Mr. Larson (2/24)
Sinfonia East Students and Families,
Thank you for a great rehearsal this week! Your work this week showed and I am excited for this week’s concert.
Here is a link with all of the details for the weekend including concert location, what to wear, what to bring, information about the food drive, and much, much more. Make sure to check it out so you are ready to go!
Feb. 28 concert program is:
Glorioso
Bratislava
Havana
You are ready to have a nice performance that highlights work we have done on dynamics, articulations, rhythms, and balance. I know everyone is busy, but to be ready to have a great performance you need to make sure to get in your GTCYS 10. If you only have 10 minutes per day, focus on one piece for all 10 minutes. If you have more time, you can mix it up a little bit.
Before the concert, make time to run the entire concert. If possible, do a complete concert run Saturday morning. Many of you are busy with other activities, so I understand if it does not work, but it will improve our performance if our warm-up is not the first time you play this music that day.
For your GTCYS 10 this week:
- Havana
- We are adding a repeat making us play 38 – 45 2x
- Mark this in your part
- Rhythms – make it crisp
- Listen to the listening link and think about when your part is the most important (melody) or is more in the background (harmony). We want the audience to be hear the melody clearly
- We are adding a repeat making us play 38 – 45 2x
- Bratislava
- Dynamics make music more interesting especially when we have a range. Notice the dynamics in your part this week and exaggerate them.
- Glorioso
- Remember the work we did working on balance
- Melody = strong
- Harmony = supportive
- Remember the work we did working on balance
