Letter from Mr. Larson (2/10)
Sinfonia East Students and Families,
Thank you for your focused work at this week’s rehearsal! We made a lot of progress, but more progress could be made with your GTCYS 10 between rehearsals. As a reminder, “GTCYS 10” is the request to have all members of GTCYS practice your GTCYS music 10 minutes a day. I aim to provide music with an appropriate challenge that can be achieved with a small amount of consistent practice. Playing your GTCYS music between rehearsals will help you be prepared to do your best during rehearsals.
Feb. 28 concert program will be:
Glorioso
Bratislava
Havana
For your GTCYS 10 this week:
- Havana
- We are adding a repeat making us play 38 – 45 2x
- Mark this in your part
- This piece is going to be a combined performance with Harmony. They plan to add some body percussion to our performance. There will be time to practice this at the dress rehearsal on Feb. 28.
- We are adding a repeat making us play 38 – 45 2x
- Bratislava
- Listen to the listening link for transitions throughout the piece. Being ready to make the transition between different melodic ideas is critical for a successful performance.
- Glorioso
- It looks easy, but our first run-through sounded very different than our last run-through at our rehearsal. Commit to practicing all of your music even if it looks “easy” so you are ready to perform your best on the first attempt at rehearsal.
