Letter from Mr. Larson (11/4)

Sinfonia East Students and Families,

Thank you all for a good rehearsal. We once again had many mentors from Symphony join our rehearsal. This week we had a violinist, violist, bassist, trombonist, and oboist. It was fun to see Sinfonia East students interact with and learn from these amazing musicians!

With one more rehearsal before Fall Festival there is still time to focus on intonation in those tricky spots, contrasting dynamics and articulations, and being able to look up at entrances and firmatas! These last days of practicing the details will set us up for a great Fall Festival performance.

What to work on with your GTCYS 10 this week

Bizet – Habanera (Fall Festival)

  • We will start with Habanera with a focus on intonation
  • Practice looking up at every firmata
  • Watch for the staccatos and the non-staccatos

Gordon – Momentum (Fall Festival)

  • Practice crisp and clean entrances
  • A – B
  • Change the energy to contrast the power of the beginning of the piece

Holesovsky –Bratislava (Community Concert)

  • Run entire piece

Smith and Bernard – Winter Wonderland (Community Concert)

  • Run entire piece

Arr. Ployhar – Ukrainian Bell Carol (Community Concert)

  • We will not rehearse next week, Nov. 11
