Letter from Mr. Larson (10/7)

Sinfonia East Students and Families,

Thank you for working through many details. It can be tough to be patient when other sections need to clean up rhythms/articulations, so know that it is recognized and appreciated. Next week we will have sectionals to really dig into the details so we are ready for our Fall Festival and continue preparations for our December performance.

What we worked on at the rehearsal:

Bizet

  • Dynamics, bowings, timing of entrances after fermatas

Gordon

  • Strings
    • Eighth rests and bowings
  • Everyone
    • Eighth rests and accents

Holesovsky

  • Violins and violas
    • Changed the 5th measure of “O” (2nd measure of the Presto)
    • The quarter note is now two eighth notes of the same pitch

Smith and Bernard –

  • Sight-read twice.

What to work on with your GTCYS 10 this week

  • Bizet
    • 12 – 28 (watch out for key signature and accidentals)
    • 64 – 80 (watch out for key signature and accidentals)
  • Gordon
    • Strings – play eighth notes in the lower half of the bow
    • Everyone – entrances after an eighth rest needs to start with energy.
  • Holesovsky
    • Listen
    • Presto to the end. Try to get tempo up to quarter note = 150
  • Smith and Bernard (Winter Wonderland)
    • This will be performed at our December Concert on Tuesday, December 9.
