Letter from Mr. Larson (10/21)
Sinfonia East Students and Families,
So good to see everyone Tuesday night. You continue to make good progress every week which puts us in a good position for the Fall Festival!
A special thank you to the mentors from GTCYS Symphony. I forgot to thank the other mentors who have stopped in to volunteer their time to work with Sinfonia East, but every time they are at the rehearsal is an opportunity to grow and learn.
What to work on with your GTCYS 10 this week
Bizet – Habanera (Fall Festival)
- Practice staccato versus not staccato
- Be mindful of dynamics (first forte is in measure 36)
- Forte staccato’s extra crisp
Gordon – Momentum (Fall Festival)
- Still need to clean up some entrances, but has good energy
Holesovsky –Bratislava (Possible Community Concert)
- Focus on M – end
Smith and Bernard – Winter Wonderland (Community Concert)
- We played the entire piece and made a lot of growth
- Look for the syncopated rhythms and accidentals
- Also look for when you have the melody and play out!
Arr. Ployhar – Ukrainian Bell Carol (Community Concert)
- Great run through at rehearsal. This can be played for fun, but should not be a main focus for your GTCYS 10.
