Letter from Maestro Smith (9/15)
I was extremely happy with the progress we have been making so early in the year! You are already sounding good and are making big musical statements — this is essential for this year’s repertoire.
Please have a SLOW look at the Death of Tybalt — the first #7. We crashed through it together, but clearly this needs individual practice by EVERYONE.
We will continue in Meistersinger as well — strings and woodwinds especially need to make a close look at Wagner’s chromaticism — it all make great sense once you get it into your ear correctly..
So — see you on Monday and for the retreat — a big week for GTCYS Symphony!
Please honor your commitment to the music and to each other and spend time preparing your GTCYS music (GTCYS 10) — it will pay big dividends for your group!
See you soon — MRS
