Letter from Maestro Smith (4/21)

Once again, congratulations to EVERY one of you for a truly amazing performance on Sunday evening. It was the fantastic culmination of the year’s efforts — and it really paid off.  Wonderful energy, focus and musicianship!  You should all feel very proud of your significant accomplishment!

AND — wow — amazing focus last night at rehearsal.  We have yet another tremendous challenge ahead of us, but this time on a tight timeframe — and your work at last night’s rehearsal was mature and concentrated and exactly what we needed.  You truly are one of the hardest working orchestras I have ever conducted!

So — please listen to the Leshnoff and carefully count and prepare your part.  We have the potential to give a powerful and moving performance of this piece in Orchestra Hall as part of the Violins of Hope Project, so thank you in advance for your work.
