Letter from Maestro Smith (4/13)
As I said last night, very good work — things are coming together nicely and we should be in a position to give a great concert on Sunday.
What I failed to remind you was about our second Mahler reading session next Monday — April 20. We will look at the first and last movements. If you have the opportunity, please look that over so that you come in somewhat familiar with this incredible work. And please take great care with the parts which you now possess — as I mentioned, these are irreplaceable, so I trust that everyone will take care (and remember to bring them!)
We are now at the point where performing together on a high level is becoming a good routine — but not one that we can ever take for granted. Let’s take advantage of upcoming performance opportunities to continue to grow and become even more expressive musicians.
I look forward to Sunday, and the weeks to follow. And, of course, to our great adventure together in June.
See you Sunday — keep up the great work — MRS
