Letter from Maestro Smith (12/16)

Congratulations to each and every one of you for impressive performances on Monday night!  You sounded really, really great — thank you for your collective focus and energy — and for supporting each other in such a great way!  We have a special community here, and I am so grateful to every musician in the orchestra for making a tremendous contribution.

As we discussed, the first movement of Tchaikovsky is a tremendous challenge — and you conquered it!  I am really looking forward to next semester as we learn the rest of the symphony together, and embark upon some very special projects and repertoire together.

Thanks for your great playing and now take a few days off — but please be ready for second semester!!
