Letter from Kaiser (3/26)
Untitled (Dance), Keith Harring, 1987
Tonight we dug in to really get more fine details worked out in Ballet and Spanish Dance No. 3 in particular. Looking ahead, I will be gone the next two weeks from rehearsal, but the incredible Jack Reynertson from Concert Orchestra will be leading you! Please show him how awesome and kind we can be as an orchestra both in musical energy and kindness.
GTCYS 10:
Violins + Violas: Spanish Dance 45 – Coda Needs a bit more clarity. Work to stop the bow at the eighth rests so we can hear the dance-like rhythms together.
VIolin I and Viola: In Ballet, Rehearsal 9 – 11 has some areas that need cleaning up. Use a metronome so these passages are steady!
Cellos: Ballet at Rehearsal 6 – 8 felt a bit out of tune at times, please use a tuner and check!
Bass: Use a metronome in Ballet to get consistent off-beats at Rehearsal 1
Woodwinds: The off-beats at the beginning of Ballet like to slow down. Use a metronome, half note = 100, and work on getting precise clean staccato quarter notes.
Brass: Anything in Ballet at The beginning, Rehearsal 1, and Rehearsal 3, needs a metronome! Half note = 100, play through several times and do not allow yourself to drag
Percussion: We found some great spots in Ballet to feature percussion (tambourine). Try playing along with a recording to make sure you’re aware of when percussion plays with the orchestra (Rehearsal 4), vs. when it’s a solo moment (before Rehearsal 12, before Rehearsal 14).

Visiting Camerata Con Brio, Virtual Visit with Farhad:
We have been invited to attend a Camerata Con Brio rehearsal where a virtual meeting with Farhad will occur! This is totally optional, but could be a great way to meet new GTCYS peers and learn more about Ode to Childhood. The rehearsal we are aiming for is: Tuesday, April 14th. 7 – 8:45, Woodale Church, Edina Campus 5532 Wooddale Ave, Edina, MN 55424
We are hoping to time it out so the meeting occurs in the first half of rehearsal. If you are interested in attending, please email me and I will try to get a list going.
Happy Practicing!
Best wishes,
Zane Kaiser
