Letter from Kaiser (3/19)
Hello Camerata Vivace!
The Veiled Lady, marble, Raffaelle Monti, 1860
It was so wonderful to hear your clear work on Ballet since our last rehearsal. We now have five rehearsals left before our April Community Concert, and two after that until Spring Festival and the final showcase of our learning.

Audition Prep:
Tonight we played some of our audition solos for our stand partners, how fun! It was great to watch you all share a little bit of your work and hear your feedback for one another. We will be doing more of this going forward. I would like you to now prepare your excerpts for a future share-out in rehearsal. Don’t forget to visit the GTCYS website and learn about even more audition tips.
GTCYS 10:
Violins: I heard great work on your main melody in Ballet tonight. Please prepare your part in the middle Valse section for next week. 37 – Coda in Spanish Dance was a bit sloppy tonight, please work on cleaning up the intonation of your 8th note mini passages and bow placement for lighter vs. heavier moments, we will work on this in rehearsal next week!
Violas: Great work on the off-beats in Ballet! Please focus on the Valse in Ballet for next week.
Cellos/Bass: Valse in Ballet is also your goal area.
Woodwinds: Continue your preparation on the Lord of the Ring isolated solo-istic moments and Ballet for next week.
Brass: The introduction to Ballet needs some polishing still, including the same melodic material at the end of the piece. And, you learned about your importance in Lord of the Rings at the 5/4 time signature tonight, keep up the work there!
Percussion: Lord of the Rings and Spanish Dance are your songs to prep for next rehearsal.
Jupiter Reminder:
As we stated tonight, Jupiter is a tradition for Spring Festival every year at GTCYS. In addition, it must be memorized. After tonight please begin your work in memorization and matching the phrasing you heard tonight. Check out a GTCYS video on YouTube of a Spring Festival to listen to it at the end if you would like.
Happy Practicing!
Best wishes,
Kaiser
