Letter from Kaiser (2/5)
Hello Camerata Vivace!
Julio Valdez, Las terrenas abstraction III, 2015
Thank you for your hard work over the last couple of weeks on your seating auditions! It is always a treat for me to hear the progress in rehearsal that is a result of your individual practice. We are only 3 rehearsals away from our world premiere of Ode to Childhood. In two weeks, we will be joined by Camerata Con Brio musicians. We will be focusing on running each movement every rehearsal from here on out so do not let up on the practicing! Remember: if you can’t play something with confidence, it needs practice until it feels natural. Lastly, thank you Atari for joining us on harp, what a treat!
GTCYS 10:
Brass and Woodwinds: Movement III, all of the more exposed moments in after Rehearsal 1 and 2, plus Rehearsal 4: build confidence!
Strings: In Mvmt III I noticed tonight we really struggled with our flat accidentals in the moving 8th note lines. Please practice and review before next week.
Orchestrating Opportunities:
Pay what you can and come enjoy a fun night celebrating all things GTCYS at Orchestrating Opportunities! Tuition only covers about half of the operating costs of our organization, so this event really helps us bring in more funds to support you and your peers!
Open Rehearsal!
Thursday, March 5th, is our open rehearsal! Bring a friend to play alongside you and your peers.
26 – 27 Season Auditions:
These are right around the corner! Don’t forget to check out the auditions tab on the GTCYS website for tips, updates, and materials to prepare yourself for the best audition ever!
Incredible work on your excerpts, everyone! In a majority of our sections we had very close scores and comments from the judges. In a few sections we will be rotating who is in the first chair position between the April Concert (Lord of the Rings) and Spring Festival (remaining repertoire).
Here is a link to the seating chart (woodwinds, brass, percussion are set up in the seating chart for Ode to Childhood positions):
See you next week!
Best wishes,
Kaiser
