Letter from Kaiser (2/19)

Hello Camerata Vivace!

Sisterly LoveDeborah Roberts, Sisterly Love, 2021

Wonderful work tonight! We have one rehearsal left before our world premiere of Ode to Childhood on Saturday, February 28th (Call time 12:15 and Concert 2:30). We need as few absences as possible next week for a strong final rehearsal! Tonight showed us the last few areas we need to repair before next week’s run-through rehearsal. Here are your areas to work on:

Violins: Please LOOK UP in Mvmt I anything Rehearsal 7 – End, our 16th notes are not staying together. Mvmt 2 at Rehearsal 6 also wants to speed up at times,

Violas: Mvmt I, use a metronome for the music after Rehearsal 4, we like to jump the gun and come in early! Please LOOK UP in Mvmt I anything Rehearsal 7 – End, our 16th notes are not staying together.

Cellos: Use a metronome and make sure you are on the off-beats in Mvmt 2, Rehearsal 2. Tune your notes in Mvmt 2, after Rehearsal 11, some of them are not in tune when we change from note to note! Mvmt 3 Rehearsal 2: these notes need to be checked (so many flats). Play through it slowly for intonation, then speed it up to performance tempo.

Bass: Tune the first note of Mvmt 2. Tune your notes in Mvmt 2, after Rehearsal 11, some of them are not in tune when we change from note to note! Mvmt 3 Rehearsal 2: these notes need to be checked (so many flats). Play through it slowly for intonation, then speed it up to performance tempo.

Woodwinds: Practice Mvmt 2 Rehearsal 3 so it’s clean and in tune!

Brass: Make sure you don’t miss entrances in Mvmt I around Rehearsal 5 and 6, there is a lot of sound going on! Mvmt 3 at Rehearsal 1 and 4: Practice Practice Practice! This is your moment to truly shine.

Percussion: Practice Ode to Childhood and look ahead: our next music selections are around the corner and we want to be ready for them!

Looking ahead:
