Letter from Kaiser (10/9)

Hello Camerata Vivace!

It was an absolute joy to hear all of the work our woodwind and brass players have put in to their seating auditions last night. Thank you for your dedication to our orchestra, this repertoire, and yourselves!

I will go through your scores and my notes and finalize part assignments over the next week. We do not have rehearsal next Thursday, October 16th, due to MEA. I will try to send out an email with your part assignment around then so you know what to practice leading up to our rehearsal the following week.

Strings: Your seating auditions are at our next rehearsal, Thursday 10/23. I am looking forward to the results of your preparation and hard work.

Ode to Childhood: Our world premiere from Farhad Poupel is here! We handed this piece out last night, but not every group was able to check it out (totally understandable). Check out Farhad’s bio on his website, where you can also listen to the virtual orchestra recordings of each movement.

GTCYS 20:

With two weeks in between our rehearsals it is crucial you pick up that lost time in your practicing. With our new piece in hand and Fall Festival around the corner, there is plenty to work on.

Winds: Familiarize yourself with Ode to Childhood and once part assignments are sent out in a week, re-check those parts.

Strings: Seating Auditions excerpts are your main task. Remember: this is the time to reinvest time into them with a metronome and tuner to establish excellence.

Hidden Item of the Week: If you read Farhad’s “About” section on his website you can learn about his musical accomplishments and upbringing. He grew up in Iran learning two instruments. What are they? Let me know for a prize and bragging rights!

Best wishes,
Kaiser
