Letter from Kaiser (10/2)
Hello Camerata Vivace!
Happy October! Our progress on Bright Lights was especially stellar last night in rehearsal, kudos to you! As we look ahead towards Fall Festival it is time for you to focus on practicing the small things: one measure at a time, smaller moments within a measure, little rhythmic moments, etc. I am so looking forward to our next few musical opportunities. As a reminder:
Next Week:
Sectionals for All! Winds and Brass seating auditions.
No Rehearsal Thursday, 10/16 (MEA)
Strings Seating Auditions 10/23
GTCYS 10:
All students: Please spend a few moments reviewing our work on Bright Lights. Use your pencil! Items we worked on include: ends of phrases, balance across our sections, steady rhythm in the 16th notes, and bigger woodwind/brass entrances. Next steps: Prokofiev.
From Rehearsal:
Here is that song that I love showing the “back of the beat”. Lil’ Darlin by Neal Hefti played by the legend Count Basie and his band
Cellos: attached is a picture of the Prokofiev bassoon solo. We will most likely have this be played by one student for the performance, but I figure you all deserve to learn it:
Meet the Section!
Our 1st violins (Chris, Abraham, Ayva, Keziah, Alex, Benji, Aurelia, Arianna, Evan, Keira, Alexis, and Eloise) have been rocking it and working hard this season! Not only do they often have the melody, working together and a section requires maturity and responsibility! Woo hoo!
No Easter Egg this week, but keep reading the update. You never know!
Best wishes,
Kaiser
