Letter from Kaiser (1/15)

Polaris, Martin Wong | Mia

Polaris, Martin Wong, 1987

This week we had sectionals! Thank you for working so diligently with your coaches; they had great things to say! We have our winter retreat to look forward to this Sunday (1:45. Call, 2:00 rehearsal starts), at Roseville Area High School. This will be a huge opportunity for us to really get some crucial work done on ALL of our repertoire.

GTCYS 10:

Use this time to work on your seating audition excerpts! You can find them here.

Notes from your coaches (and things we all need to know):

  • Musician Basics: Have your instrument up in time. I noticed this with our strings, too. As musicians there are so many errors that can occur while playing; not even having your instrument up on time will only create more problems.
  • USE.A.METRONOME: If every professional musician I know uses one, we should too! Start slow and after excellent work at a slower tempo, pick up the pace (slowly).

See you soon!

Best wishes,
Kaiser
