Letter from Jack (2/23)
HERE WE GO! It’s time for our first concert of the semester.
Three things that are needed to ensure a meaningful artistic experience this weekend.
- A good, hard week of practice.
You all know what to do and which spots lack confidence. Do your part to gain confidence technically, musically, and mentally this weekend with some focused practice.
- An intense, focused dress rehearsal.
Please be on time and do an extended, serious warm-up before we jump into our 25 minute (!!!!) dress rehearsal.
- A connected performance rooted in the PRESENT.
At this time of year, there are a great many things that can pull us apart or snag our attention away from our current task. Let our short performance be a sacred time where your attention is focused solely on your relationship with yourself, your instrument, your peers, and your conductor. We’re all in this together- let’s cherish our time on stage!
Here is the concert order:
Larsen: Overture to the End of a Century
Beethoven: Trombone Trio (Performed by our three esteemed low brass musicians!)
Beethoven: Allegretto from Symphony 7
Williams: Selections from the Phantom Menace
- Anakin’s Theme
- Duel of the Fates
I can’t wait to make music with you this weekend.
Jack.
