Letter from Jack (2/2)
Dear Concert Orchestra,
I hope you had an enjoyable, productive time at sectionals last night. I could hear your progress as I walked through the halls!
A special congratulations to our woodwind and brass students, who completed their seating auditions last night. BRAVO to all! Thank you for taking the time to put in some extra practice. It’s always worth it to do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone. That’s how we grow!
Woodwind, Brass, and percussion players, please see the attached updated part assignments for our music.
NEXT WEEK’S SCHEDULE:
We’re back at it with some intense, focused rehearsing. Here’s the schedule. Trumpet, Trombone, and tuba will not be needed for the first 15 minutes of rehearsal. But be ready to play RIGHT at 7:00 if you plan to arrive a little bit later.
****HARP will be needed from 6:45-7:30 PM****
MONDAY, 02/09/2026
6:45-7:00
Williams: Anakin’s Theme (Starting at measure 34 in the Phantom Menace)
7:00-7:30
Williams: Duel of the Fates
7:30-8:00
Larsen: Overture for the End of a Century
8:10-8:45
Beethoven: Symphony 7 Allegretto
STRINGS, please remember that you have seating auditions next week. Again, please see the attached excerpts here, as well as a set of metronome markings for your consideration.
*As a reminder, these metronome markings serve as a guide for our GOAL tempo. You should try to be in the ballpark of these markings, but it’s always better to give a clean, confident, musical performance that is a little on the slower side.*
Thanks all. I can’t wait to make music with you next week.
Jack.
