Letter from Jack (10/20)
Dear Concert Orchestra,
I can hear your practice! Each rehearsal you have improved, and this is thanks to individual work that you are each putting into our music.
As a reminder, our focus pieces for the next few weeks will be STILL and ELGAR, as we will perform these at Fall Festival. Keep practicing Walton and Prokofiev as well, and be prepared to rehearse these pieces in smaller chunks. The schedule for Monday is below- Walton movements 2 and 6 are up!
Schedule for NEXT WEEK
6:45-7:00: RHYTHM WORK (Get ready to count!)
7:00-7:30: Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance
7:30-7:45: Walton: Movement 2
7:45-8:00: Break and Announcements
8:00-8:15: Walton: Movement 6
8:15-8:45: Still: Singing River
Strings, Bravo to ALL on your performances at seating auditions this week. It takes courage to perform for a judge, and I am proud of EACH and EVERY one of you for your efforts this semester. Every member matters. Every seat is important.
Cello and Bass players, we will chat about your audition experience on Monday. THANK YOU for your flexibility and patience as we navigated some unique challenges at rehearsal.
I will send out a new seating arrangement before rehearsal on Monday.
Have a great weekend- and make some music!
Jack.
