Letter from Diane (10/7)
Hey Camerata Con Brio,
Great job in sectionals this week! Every one of our section coaches mentioned to me how much they enjoyed working with you. While I wholeheartedly agree, I don’t take your positive and respectful attitude for granted. The detail work that happens during sectionals takes a lot of focus and energy and you clearly showed that you were up to that challenge! In addition, it was great to hear the woodwind and brass sections as they played their chair auditions for me. I will have some feedback ready for you next week. Way to go everyone, and thanks for being awesome!
I’ll make this week’s message short and sweet. Work on your GTCYS 10! Your commitment to working on your GTCYS music for at least 10 minutes a day will make your playing change from pretty good to great! We are going for GREAT!
YOUR GTCYS 10
Winds– think about the verbal feedback you received during your playing audition and focus on those areas. Did we fix a trill fingering or talk about articulation or staying in tempo? Reinforce those ideas in your practice!
Percussion and Harp–Pull out the parts where your work is exposed (do you have a timpani solo moment or a big glissando?) reinforce those parts with practice so you approach them with confidence.
Strings– Focus on the excerpts for your string auditions. Find them here. You will have your auditions on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Have a great week, and until I see you next, always live your life CON BRIO!
