Letter from Diane (3/17)

Hey Camerata Con Brio,

It’s spring break season!  For the next few weeks, I know that many of you will be out of town with your families, but our rehearsals will keep on as scheduled. A quick reminder to fill out the absence form if you know you will be gone.

If you missed rehearsal tonight, here is a quick recap.

WAY TO GO on inviting so many guests to our open rehearsal night. Our group had the biggest number of guests so we are the winners of the ice cream treats.  Yes!!

We spent the majority of the rehearsal on the Poupel and finally took the time to dig into the second movement. We will perform all three movements at our April concert, so this will continue to be our focus in the days ahead. We also spent some time on the Dvorak, which we will also play in April.

Finally, we were able to spend a bit more time debriefing on the Light in the Well concert. You had some great comments and I will share them with Wu. If you didn’t respond to the survey I sent last week, and are willing to give some written feedback, here it is one more time.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the Facebook posts from our concert, take a look at them here.  So much joy!

Here is your GTCYS 10

It’s all about the Poupel!  Focus your practice on the second and third movements. Bring out your tuner, bring out your metronome, practice the measures we circled tonight!  Go after the notes and rhythms. Practice until you achieve success, then repeat that success! I really think that some healthy repetition on your individual part will do a world of good.  Let’s have the goal be that nothing sounds like sightreading next week because you know the piece so well that you can anticipate what is next.

Thank you to Luna for writing down questions to send to Farhad Poupel about his piece. Here is a document where you can continue to put your questions.  I will send them after next week’s rehearsal, so feel free to add your thoughts as you practice this week.

Have a great week, and keep on living your life Con Brio!
