Letter from Diane (11/25)

Dear Camerata Con Brio,

Even though we were missing a handful of our members tonight, I am grateful for the things we were able to accomplish. We spent time on Bizet, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Mozart, Dvorak, Poupel and Galante. While we went into detail on a few things, we also bookmarked things for our sectionals next week.  Please come ready to focus on the spots we identified.

HERE IS YOUR GTCYS 10

Bizet “Carrilon”–opening tempo is mm=132  Andante tempo is mm=115 Work on playing with dynamic contrast while maintaining a steady pulse (don’t slow down when it gets soft!)  Some of you have notes to work out on this one.  Get to it!

The Most Wonderful Time of The Year– We are now feeling this piece “in one.”  practice at quarter note=150, then switch it to mm=50 and feel it in one.

Poupel “Lullaby”–This piece needs everyone’s individual attention.  Work on a blended tone with beautiful intonation (winds–put your tuner on your music stand!) Find the measures that challenge you and jump in.

Mozart–Fingers are not even and clean in the opening statement. Keep working on this and don’t forget to BREATHE on the rests so that you activate them instead of blowing or bowing through them.

Finally, I want to express my gratitude for each of you. GTCYS is great for a lot of reasons, but the greatest reason is because YOU are in it!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, keep living your life Con Brio, and I’ll see you next week.
