Letter from Diane (10/14)
Hello Camerata Con Brio,
Meet the cello section!
Congratulations to this amazing group, who won the CCB Challenge trophy this week! Jonah, John, Piers, Caius, Isadore, Krishna, Megan, Bea, Owen, Ellie, Clementine, Rose, Maren,
Daphne, Irene, Prajwal, Lucas, Dae, and Doran, all bring depth and richness to our orchestral sound–and they are pretty good at “rock, paper scissors” too. Thanks for your great work, cellos. You are in charge of choosing the CCB Challenge for next week!
Next week we have string seating auditions, so violins, violas, cellos and basses, make sure you have your excerpts ready! Find them here. We will also read the new piece that was passed out this week: “Lullaby from Ode to Childhood” by Farhad Poupel. If you were not here this week, please find your part in the Dropbox on our member page on the GTCYS website. I will have a paper copy for you when you return next Tuesday.
HERE IS YOUR GTCYS 10
Strings: practice your seating audition material and be ready to play for your audition judge on Tuesday. If you have time after that, take a look at the Poupel so you are ready to read it in rehearsal next week.
Winds, Harp and Percussion: Work on getting your part to the Mozart up to tempo. Our target is half note=120. Also practice your part to the Gallante with your metronome running so you play through each phrase with an even tempo. Remember not to rush the dotted quarter notes! Use any remaining time to read through the Poupel so we are ready to read it in rehearsal next week.
CCB Lost and found:
This umbrella and a flute stand. If they are yours, you can pick them up next week.
I hope you all have a great MEA break! Until then, always live your life CON BRIO!
