Letter from Diane (1/6)
Hello Camerata Con Brio,
It was great to see you all again after the break and also to welcome the new members who are joining us for the second semester. I am excited for the rest of our season!
We spent a lot of time sightreading in this week’s rehearsal and I appreciated your tenacity in working through the new music on your stands. Sightreading is a tricky thing– on one hand it is exciting to solve musical problems in real time and to engage with something new. On the other hand, it can be frustrating to get lost or not have the opportunity to fix mistakes (perfectionists, I see you!) No matter how you feel about it, it is a great exercise, and the more you do it, the better you will be at this important skill.
After reading “Pirates” and “Frozen” the verdict is in, and our movie theme piece will be:
Next week we will have sectionals, so please focus your GTCYS 10 as follows so you will be ready for your work with our coaches.

Winds: You will work with your coaches on “Ode To Childhood” Movements 2 and 3 and “Pirates” Please focus your practice on these pieces.
Percussion: Your coach will help you sort out the parts to “Pirates” and “Ode to Childhood.” Please focus your practice on these two pieces.
Several of you asked about the dates for second semester seating auditions. They are:

More information on this coming soon!
See you next week. Until then, always live your life CON BRIO!
