Letter from Dan (4/6)
Dear Concertino West,
Thank you for your excellent work in sectionals this week! I was able to visit each sectional, and I was impressed by your focus and attention. After rehearsal, each of the coaches shared how much they enjoyed working with you.
We’ll sit in our regular concert seats next week! If you can’t remember where you sit, you can check the seating chart when you arrive.
Pre-rehearsal audition support time
It was great connecting with many of you before rehearsal this week! I’ll also be available next week starting at 6:15pm to answer any questions or be available to listen to you play a part of your audition if you’re interested. Just come to the rehearsal room and sit in the front row.
Meet the composer of Freshwater Pirates on Thursday, April 9
Autumn Maria Reed will be visiting Concertino East’s rehearsal on April 9 from 6:45-8:30pm at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church. She’s an accomplished composer and GTCYS commissioned her to write a new piece, Freshwater Pirates. She’s excited to speak with GTCYS students about her work and creative process! You can see more information about her on her website.
Your GTCYS10 this week is self-directed. Please focus on sections you worked on with your sectional coach this week.
- Freshwater Pirates
- Lord of the Rings
- Of the Extraterrestrial Sort
- Review:
- Russian Sailors Dance
- Johnny Comes Marching Home
- Beethoven 5
Next week’s theme for audition preparation will be excerpts! Please bring a copy of your audition materials to rehearsal next week.
See you next Monday!
Dan
