Letter from Dan (11/10)
Dear Concertino West,
Thanks for an excellent rehearsal on Monday! Remember Fall Festival is this Sunday, November 16 at Orchestra Hall! We’ll have some time to rehearse on stage before the performance begins at 2:00pm.
Here’s what we did in rehearsal this week:
- Touched up our Fall Festival pieces
- Completed a successful run-through of both pieces
- Enjoyed treats during break
- Participated in a brief social activity led by Student Leadership Team
- Worked on the challenging key in the Waltz
- Played the first half of Sleigh Ride
Reminders about Sunday’s performance:
- Call time is 12:00pm, enter through the Peavy Plaza doors, and meet Concertino West in the Mezzanine (follow the signs or ask someone!)
- Cellos and basses: Please bring your rock stops!
- Attire is all black. For specific details, please click here.
- You can find all the details for Fall Festival in both your email and on our member page!
Practice assignment (GTCYS10) for this week
- Review Fall Festival pieces by playing through twice before Sunday:
- Beethoven 5
- Russian Sailor’s Dance
- Sleigh Ride:
- This is in cut time which means 2 beats per measure and the half note gets one beat,
- Learn B-C. There are lots of accidentals!
- Waltz
- Learn measures 45-69. This is the transition to the key change and has a lot of challenging notes!
- Johnny Comes Marching Home
- Review
- Channukah Celebration
- Start to familiarize yourself with this piece
See you on Sunday!
Dan
