Letter from Dan (1/5)
Dear Concertino West,
Happy New Year! It was great seeing you all again and it was a fun challenge to sightread our new music this week. I want to extend a special welcome to our new members who attended last night. It’s great having you in Concertino West!
I’ve updated our Practice Playlist which you can find by logging in our member page (password: concertinowest25-26). It’s located the top of the page, and I encourage you to spend this week listening to the recordings while you follow along with your music.
Practice assignment (GTCYS10) for this week
- Haydn Settings, Movement 2: This is a slow movement. Figure out the rhythms by subdividing 16th notes.
- Lord of the Rings:
- Strings: work on your artificial/false harmonics. Take this to your private teacher if they aren’t working for you. Tip: Press firmly with your first finger for the regular note and then lightly touch the diamond note with your pinky.
- All: Practice 68-105
- Extraterrestrial: Listen to the recording of this piece and start to figure out some of the trickier rhythms
- White Walls and Smile: Listen to the recording of these pieces 3 times before next week. Start figuring out the rhythms.
See you next Monday!
Dan
