Letter from Dan (1/12)
Dear Concertino West,
Thank you for your excellent work last night in sectionals. What are three takeaways from your coach last night that you can put into practice? Please enter them here by next Monday and you’ll be a VIP in the treat line next month!
Don’t forget that our Practice Playlist is located at the top of our member page (password: concertinowest25-26). As part of your GTCYS10, I encourage you to spend another week listening to the recordings while you follow along with your music, especially the OK Factor pieces.
We have our retreat this Saturday, January 17 at Roseville Area High School. Please arrive at 1:30pm. Remember to bring something to eat for dinner (no nuts) and check your email or member page for additional details.
GTCYS10 for this week
- Haydn Settings:
- Review the 2nd movement
- Set metronome on Quarter=66.
- Counting rhythms and rests is super important!
- Lord of the Rings:
- Strings:Continue to work on your artificial/false harmonics. Take this to your private teacher if they aren’t working for you. Tip: Press firmly with your first finger for the regular note and then lightly touch the diamond note with your pinky.
- All:Practice 68-105
- Extraterrestrial:
- Learn measures 22-67
- Set metronome on Quarter=120
- It’s very important to subdivide 8th notes in this piece so you can play the rhythm accurately.
- White Walls and Smile and a High Five:
- Continue to listen to recordings
- Work on techniques and tips your sectional coach share with you
See you on Saturday!
Dan
