Harmony LNFI Week 8

Dear Harmony L’Etoile du Nord Families,

I hope you have stayed warm this week! Here are a few updates from Week 8:

• This week Roots students were assigned instruments and spent time in separate violin and cello groups.
• Ms. Emily’s class had a “Solo Moment” on Friday, where a few students volunteered to perform for the class. Thank you to Wilbur, Maggie, Zara, Rose, and Izzy for playing for us!

A reminder about attendance

Regular attendance at Harmony is really important. Getting to school by 8:00am and participating in class every day not only helps students learn as much as possible, it also helps them learn resilience, effort, and courage (three of our Harmony values)!

An occasional absence due to illness or other circumstances is ok, but please do your best to keep getting to Harmony, even on these dark, cold days! If you do need to miss a class, remember to fill out an Absence Form.

Winter break is in two weeks!

During winter break, Harmony Roots will be able to take their instruments home for the first time! We hope you will encourage your students to play their violin or cello as much as possible over the winter break. Next week’s email will include more information about keeping instruments safe at home, but here are a few reminders for everyone this week:

• Do not leave your instrument in the car, or anywhere else it could experience extremes of temperature.
• Only students and their parents or guardians should ever touch or play the instrument. Friends and siblings can look and listen, but not touch!
• Cellos are not allowed on school busses, so students will need to be picked up from school to take their cellos home.
• If you have questions about taking instruments home or keeping instruments safe at home, please reach out! You can text, call, or email me any time.
