Harmony LNFI Week 2

Dear Harmony L’Etoile du Nord Families,
This week, students had their first “small-group” classes of the year. Roots had more time with Ms. Laurie and Ms. Denise, and returning students had their first classes with Mr. Joe, Ms. Irene, and Ms. Emily.

Taking Instruments Home
Starting today, Friday October 24, returning Harmony students can bring their instruments home!

  • Please encourage your student to play at home! Students should work towards a daily habit of playing their instrument for at least 10 minutes every day by the time they graduate from Harmony.
  • Help your student find a safe place to store their instrument at home – usually the best place is in a bedroom or living room, or somewhere else that doesn’t get too hot or too cold.
  • Remember to bring your instrument to Harmony! If a student forgets their instrument two times, they will need to leave it at school for a week before being allowed to bring it home again. We don’t always have spare instruments available at school, so forgetting it at home may mean the student needs to sit out during class that day.
  • No cellos on the bus: unfortunately, cellos are not allowed on school busses, so cello students must be picked up from school in order to take their instrument home.
  • New Harmony students / Harmony Roots: Our “Harmony Roots” students will be able to take instruments home a little later in the year, around winter break!

Reminders and links:

  • Arrive on time: Thank you for arriving between 7:50 and 8:00am this week!
  • Absence form: If your student needs to miss a Harmony class for any reason, please fill out an Absence Form as soon as possible.
  • Harmony Member Page: Check out the Harmony Member Page for the Harmony Handbook, Calendar, YouTube Page, and any important updates!

Thanks,
Emily
