Fall Retreat

Hello GTCYS Symphony Families,

We are excited for your upcoming Fall Retreat on Saturday, September 27 from 11:00am–5:00pm. Please read through the details below. If your student must be absent for the retreat, please do not reply to this email: complete a Symphony absence form.

RETREAT INFORMATION

Saturday, September 27, 2025

Ted Mann Concert Hall, University of Minnesota

11:00am–5:00pm

• 10:45am: Student call time—enter through stage door, unpack in locker rooms
• 11:00am: Orchestra rehearsal
• 12:30pm: Lunch outside (weather permitting)
  • Students bring their own packed lunches.
  • NO NUTS policy: Do not bring anything containing nuts to any GTCYS activity.
• 1:15pm: Sectionals
  • Percussion in room 85 (Orchestra Room) with Fernando Meza
  • Winds in room 72 with Burt Hara
  • Brass in 95 with James Vaughen
  • Stage: Strings with Maestro Smith
• 2:25pm: Social activity
• 3:30pm: Orchestra rehearsal
• 5:00pm: Pack up and depart

WHAT TO BRING

• Packed lunch
• Instrument and accessories
• Music folder & pencil
• Small nut-free snack if desired
• Water bottle
• Cellos and basses: Rock stops are REQUIRED for Ted Mann stage

• The closest places to park are the 21st Ave. Ramp or Lot 94. The average parking rate is $1 per hour. You can read more about parking here.
• Enter through the Stage Door: From the main entrance, follow the GTCYS green signs to the left, by the loading dock. Follow signs to the locker rooms to drop off your coats and cases.
