On Monday night, Sinfonia West students gathered in the ballroom of Friendship Village in Bloomington. Residents came from all over the facility as the orchestra warmed up, and their faces lit up as the music began.

"It was just wonderful. It reminds me of listening to my grandchildren when they were in orchestra,” said one of the residents. “The kids were so talented, and they worked so well together—it was so very uplifting.”

Our students learn so much when they share their music through free, in-home performances at care facilities. There’s no replacement for the powerful feeling of bringing joy and connection to your community.
