What years were you in GTCYS?
1972-1980, Washburn High School class of 1980 (Go Millers!)

What skills or lessons did you learn in GTCYS that you still use today?
Results for many things do not come over night. You have to be willing to spend consistent time, effort and be patient with many things in life.

Why do you think GTCYS is important for students now?
It is a way to connect with friends. Creating beautiful music with your friends is one of the most rewarding experiences there is in life.

How does music still play a part in your life?
I cannot imagine a day without music. I play, perform and teach all things music.

What is your favorite composer or piece of music?
A day without Bach is incomplete.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I can do 20 pull-ups.

What do you hope to see from GTCYS in the next 50 years?
I hope that more students from all areas of the Twin Cities can continue to come together to create, learn, play and perform. I would love to see a GTCYS orchestra in every community of the metro area.
